Goal of the Photo

This photo was taken on a trip to Saint Petersburg, Florida and the St. Pete Beach area. This was one of those perfect evenings where the temperature, sky and sunset were in sync. My hope was to capture an image to give the viewer the feeling of "I wish I was there."

Photo Analysis

This image captured a moment where the distance between the paddle wheel boat, sun and horizon creates a nice centered focal point to draw in the viewer. The colors of the sky, sun and water evoke the feeling a warm, clear summer evening near the Gulf of Mexico.

Photo Post Processing

The original image was well composed and well lit. However, small improvements made a big difference with this sunset image. The original was cropped in slightly and the exposure was increased. This allowed the silhouette of the paddle wheel boat to show more detail. The horizon line was slightly straightened (after all this photo was taken from a moving sailboat). A gradient filter was added to make the sky really pop.

Within Adobe Photoshop CC, the Corcoran Studio logo was added in the lower corner. And then this image was exported out at the appropriate size for this website.
