Goal of the Photo

This image was taken quite early in the morning on a trip to the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The sun had just started to rise in the east creating the lighting effect and interesting play of shadows and light. My goal was to set a mood of stillness and permanence in this landscape photo.

Photo Analysis

The time of day of this photo really sets it apart. Since this image was taken near first sunlight the streaks of light shine overhead and act as guide for the eye toward the central mountain peak. The Grand Teton mountain range spans the entire horizon drawing the viewer's eye along the ragged peaks. The subdued color palette also adds to the interest of this image.

Photo Post Processing

This early morning photo, in such a low light condition, required a bit more exposure to bring out some of the detail, especially in the foreground. A slight adjustment to bring out the light rays in the sky was also set by modifying the gradient filter settings on the sky. I used Adobe Lightroom Classic CC software to achieve these results.

In Adobe Photoshop CC the Corcoran Studio logo was added in the lower corner. This photo was then sized and exported for this website.
